First Day of School 2010-2011

I can't believe how fast the summer goes.  It feels like we were just celebrating the last day of school.  Amazingly Paige started 8th grade and this is her last year of middle school.  She is so outgoing now and has a very diverse  and large group of friends.  She even want to try out for president of her choir group! I would have never thought she would have the courage to stand up in front of a group and take charge! way to go Paige.

Seth is starting 3rd grade!  He loves to be social and will yell out the car window to say hi to anyone he knows :)  He got the teacher he wanted and for the fourth year in a row he is in the same class with his best friend.  It will be a challenge to switch from summer mode to school studying mode :)

Here's to a great school year!!

7th Grade Medieval Market

Paige with her partner at their trading station

Paige trading nutmeg potion/sprite :)

Dylan, Ellen and Paige dressed in their costumes!

Last year they had the Then and Now festival, this year it was the Medieval Market. They worked hard to come up with a profession and then create items to trade with other students in the market. Everyone was dressed the part and running around trying to trade their items for something just as cool. There kids had stations that traded swords, shields, candles, perfume, soap, saddles and so much more. The best part was that the parents were invited to see all of their hard work. Looking forward to next years science fair.

KINGS! 2010 Spring Champions!

So proud skating with the cup!
The Kings!

As I have said before, this was Seth's first year playing roller hockey, and he loved it. He started out wobbly on the skates, especially with a stick and all the gear, but a few weeks in he had improved so much. By the end he was skating like a pro, making shots on goal, and even played goalie twice. The man who runs the whole show for every age group is amazing! He just wants the kids to have fun and feel great about themselves. He is always yelling praise and words of encouragement to the kids. And it doesn't get any better than to make it into the playoff game to win the championship! The kids played so well, and the score was always either tied or a one point difference. With 30 seconds left on the clock the Kings scored to move ahead by one! The kids were so excited when that last buzzer went off and they were the champions!!! So much fun to watch and very tense!! Great season Seth!

Seth's 1st Pinewood Derby!!

Seth started Cub Scouts in January and couldn't wait for the Pinewood Derby. Matt took the challenge about as seriously as a dad could. Let's just say youtube is his best friend (in every facet of his life :) Seth helped a lot, but I don't think he understood how fun it would be to see the cars racing down the track. It was fun to see the boys running back and forth to put their cars up on the track. With Matt's expertise and Seth's car, Seth came in 2nd place in his first Pinewood Derby!!! Great job guys! As Matt's brother Marc stated, "I am sure Seth will come in first place next year!" A fun night!

Choir Concert

Paige joined the vocal group at school this year and had a great time singing fun songs and hanging out with her good friends! Thursday was their spring concert with the wind ensemble and band. It is amazing how much they learn and progress throughout the year. The songs were amazing. Plus they get to go to Disneyland and sing this Thursday. How fun to play at Disneyland all day with your friends from school. We will tag along and listen to them sing and try not to embarrass her :) Good job Paige.
