Bummer!

Well, we are back from Sunriver, but the last day brought a crying boy who crashed his bike! We had made it all week with minor spills, but Seth also realized he could take one hand off the handlebars briefly. I told him over and over "Keep both hands on the handlebars!" We all went for a bike ride to the airport to watch the "Fly in" (15 of us) on Saturday morning. I was a few people in back of Seth and down he went. Unfortunately he fell on his arm. Later that day he insisted he ride the bike again, and did! We were leaving the next morning and he wasn't complaining anymore so I figured he could see the doctor when we got home.

Today he got x-rays and the doctor couldn't see a break, but it is swollen around the elbow and that is where the growth plates are. Even though the dr. couldn't see one doesn't mean it isn't broken, so he put a cast on it! bummer. We just got home and we were gearing up for the month of August to be beach month. It will just be with a cast :( The dr.'s office had just gotten water proof covers for casts today, so I got one to keep the sand out. We'll see how it works. It is finally time, we are headed to central Oregon. My family gets together and rents 3 houses every other summer, and it is a blast!!! We have been doing it since I was a teenager, so a LONG time! The kids LOVE it, and talk about it until we do it again. Bike riding, horseback riding, swimming, playing with cousins, and lots more bike riding on miles and miles of paths. Everyone is driving today to make it there by tomorrow afternoon. Me and the kids will hop on a plane in the morning and be there before lunch! :p just to rub it in! Yay!

Every year we go to Lagoon on the 4th of July with Matt's Mom and family. The kids LOVE it and look forward to it every year. They plan out the rides they want to go on and with whom. This year we started out by going to the Centerville parade just up from Matt's mom's house. We went because Marc's wife Aimee, and her parents, save spots in the shade, and are generous enough to let us barge in. The kids have fun chasing down the salt water taffy as it is thrown from trucks, jeeps and small floats. We don't have that here unfortunately.

We geared up for a long day at Lagoon, and tried to get there as close as we could to opening at 11am. We took our niece Ally(8) along because her parents weren't ready when she was :) First off we ran to Jet Star 2, loved it. Next, a tamer ride for Seth, the Bumper cars. After that we see the Samurai. A little intimidating, but I am up for anything when it comes to roller coaster type rides. Paige was out, but Ally wanted to go on it, so I said "why not"! Take a look at the pictures, Ally and I sat closest to the center, no one sat next to me, but 2 teenage boys, maybe 17, sat on the 2 end seats. As the ride starts up in the air, I here the boy closest to me dry heaving!!!!!! I HOPED he was messing with his friend, but no such luck! I heard the first round hit the metal floor below us, I saw the second round project and just miss the arm of people in front of us. Why didn't I start screaming "STOP THE RIDE"? Just as I am thinking we might be okay the ride does its final trick, stopping our arm directly vertical with me down wind of the puking boy. "PLEASE NO, PLEASE NO, AAAAAHHHHHHH" right across my arms, GROSS!!!! Unfortunately it got my niece in the hair. As I am screaming at the 16 year old boy manning the ride that "He threw up! He threw up!" I start to shake and am yelling at him to get me out of the ride NOW! for reasons unbeknownst to me we are the last arm unlocked and I am about to loose it. Luckily there was a bathroom next to the ride, a coincidence, I think not! We scrubbed our arms with hot soapy water and I made her put her head in the sink and rinsed her hair. Walking by the ride afterwards, I saw that same 16 year old who didn't let me off the ride immediately, cleaning up the ride. It made me laugh a little, is that horrible? I asked Matt if I had any in my hair and to get it out. His response "Well, it's kindof imbedded" WHAT! So I went back to the pavilion we had and asked Marc's wife Aimee, 8 months pregnant, to check my hair. She couldn't see anything, but then I asked her to smell it. She said it was okay, no wait, it smells right there. One reason I like curly hair, you can stick your head under the faucet and dowse your hair and come out looking okay. Thanks Aimee, you're the BEST!!!!

Minus that nightmare, the day was fun and we love to watch the fireworks at Lagoon at the end of the day! Thanks for the fun Connie and Dennis.

New Camcorder

We got a new camcorder the day before we left for Utah. I was excited because we are coming out of the dark ages and into serious technology. We bought our first and only camcorder 10 1/2 years ago the month after Paige was born. It is still in perfect condition, but those new little ones, with a hard drive looked enticing. We definitely got our moneys worth on the first one, so we made the plunge after taking 6 months to decided, and bought a new one. I love it! I don't know how to get anything off of it yet, but the video and pictures look amazing on the LCD screen. Everyone probably already knows this, but I love the fact that I can take still shots while video taping and the megapixel count is higher than my other camera. Therefore, until I get the pictures onto my computer, I will be delaying posts of some fun activities while we were in Utah.

Viva Las Vegas!

We left for Utah on the 28th of June and stopped in Las Vegas for the Weekend. We had so much fun. We stayed in "The Signature" a hotel that MGM built that is separate from the casino and other hotel. It is nice because you can pull up to the front and go up to your room, instead of hauling all of your stuff through the shops and casino to get to the hotel. Plus the hotel is no smoking, yeah! We started at the adventure dome in Circus Circus for rides and games. Then we went to Ceasar's Palace for Cheesecake Factory and a little shopping :). The food was particularly(?) good. Then Seth and I headed back to the hotel while Matt and Paige went to see "O" cirque de soleil. The next day we went to the M&M factory, of course, and spent the afternoon at the MGM pool. THEN, we ate at the Rainforest Cafe and we all went to see the David Copperfield show! AWESOME and AMAZING!!! How did he make a car appear on stage while 10 other volunteers stood around the stage holding a rope? Crazy! I highly recommend it! Wow what a weekend. Monday morning we woke up and headed to Bountiful. The next chapter coming soon :)
