School Starts!

We had a fun but crazy summer. Sickness, vacation, sickness, vacation, sickness, broken arm, and more sickness. We were all ready for school to start again. Paige registered for Middle School last week and was excited and nervous. We got her schedule and mapped out her classes, and she felt good about it. Monday night I went to Seth's school to find out his teacher and have back to school night. He got the teacher he wanted and his 2 best friends in his class. We couldn't ask for more.

We took Seth first at 8am and walked him to his line (everybody meets on the playground with their class for announcements and pledge of allegiance) we walked him to class and got him situated and then he told us "Tomorrow I want you to just do the drop off!" (you drive up and drop them off at the curb and they go to their line by themselves) Me: UH, no. I want to make sure everything is okay. Seth: Then Friday! He was very adamant. I'm sure come Tuesday he will demand to be dropped off!

Paige was nervous and didn't want me to take any pictures from the car as I dropped her off. The 6th graders were meeting at the gym for an orientation the first hour and she found a friend standing out front. As I pulled away I saw 2 of her friends parents walking their kids up, so I parked and went to make sure everything was okay :) I even got them all to pose for a picture! I don't think I embarrassed her too much. She really liked the first 3 days and I think she is excited for a fun year!

I am looking forward to getting back into a routine, I think we all are!

Fire Season Begins

Unfortunately we had to deal with fire season early and in our neighborhood. Yesterday we went to lunch and to run a few last minute errands before school starts. Matt called on his way home for lunch and said "there is smoke coming from behind our house!" Of course I panick a little bit because I am 15 minutes away and not sure what to expect. Paige had a piano practice so we headed toward home and saw the smoke rising, but dropped her off a few exits before ours. Matt kept telling me it looked okay and we didn't get evacuated, but it came too close for comfort. I took the freeway home, but had a hard time getting to our house with roads closed down, and the fire was right up to the freeway by then. We watched out our back gate as a small patch of fire burned on the hill by our house, but within half an hour the firemen were up there with a chainsaw and knocking it out. Exciting last day of Summer!!

Baby Name

So I look on Yahoo last night and it says that Gwen Stefani had her baby and named him something unique. Since HER name is so cool, I wondered what she named her new baby boy. Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale! At first I thought how weird, but then I started thinking "I love Zuma beach!" So I think it is cool, maybe she loves Zuma beach too! I will have to see how they came up with that name. So my next child, boy or girl, will be named Zuma. Oh yeah, I'm not having anymore kids! :) Well, the thought was fun while it lasted.

I'm a dork

So obviously I listen to a lot of kid music while driving in the car. We got the new Miley Cyrus CD and we had just seen a video on disney channel for "Fly on the Wall" and it was catchy and cute. So when we bought the cd, that is the first song we listened to, and the song playing now was right after it. I love the chorus and the part at the end where she is saying "be happy"! I really like this song! :p I am a dork!

Golfing in Utah (July 1st)

I am trying to play catch up now that I have put everything from my camcorder onto my computer.

I won!

So I just got an email from Quaker. I forgot that I had entered an online contest for a free digital scrapbook from shutterfly, why not. And I won! So now I can actually finish Paige's Elementary School book and get it for free. See, procrastination does pay off :)

Welcome Jackson Hardy

Ok, I did not have a baby!!! Let's just start off with that! Matt's brother Marc and his wife Aimee had their first baby on Monday, Jackson Hardy. His arrival has been highly anticipated and also nerve racking. He was diagnosed with HLHS (heart condition) while Aimee was pregnant. I can't do the explanation justice, so check out the blog set up to keep everyone informed on how he is doing. We are so excited he is here, but sad we don't live close and probably won't get to meet him until Christmas. Welcome to the family Jack!
