Spring Skiing

This year Seth asked to go skiing. We told him we are fair weather skiers, so spring break would be the time to try. We went to Utah for spring break to visit family and let the kids try skiing for the first time. We had a couple snow storms the beginning of the week which made for perfect skiing later in the week. Sunny skies, warmish temps, and walk on (ski on) lifts. They still had 100 inches for the mid base pack. We rented skis, got the kids lessons for the morning and then hit the slopes as a family. Matt and I had never been skiing together, so we both hadn't been skiing in over 17 years. It is just like riding a bike, you never loose it :) We even went down a black diamond run while the kids were in lessons. Skiing was definitely hard on the knees, but we finished the day with no major crashes or injuries!
Learning to ski with Mike.

French Fries make everything better :)

Watch out for this kid on the slopes!
Taking the lift up link, the kiddie slope they learned on.

Cheese!

Graduating to the Moonbeam Express lift! They were amazing!

This video was taken the one time there were a few snow flurries, the rest of the day was beautiful! Seth is the yellow helmet and Paige the red.

Roller Hockey and Race Cars

Seth is doing so much better at roller hockey, practice really does help :) Here is Seth in ALL his gear. Padding everywhere, mouth guard and new skates.

Seth's friend Kelly had his birthday party at an indoor race track this week. We had wanted to go there for a long time, but just never made it out there, so it was fun to be able to race against 7 of his friends. The huge helmets were so funny on the skinny boys, almost like bobble heads :) I prepared Seth that this was just for fun and that it didn't matter if he got first place and not to get worked up over it. Fortunately, or unfortunately,Align Center he came in second the first race and first place the second race!! ( he even had a major crash the second race because his hair net slipped over his face and he couldn't see a thing and smashed into the wall. After stopping the cars electronically Seth recovered and sped off to victory. So much for that lesson.

Blue and Gold

Happy Birthday Scouting

Seth had his first blue and gold dinner back in February. The best part was seeing all the cakes and eating them all. Seth and Matt did a great job of decorating under my supervision :) I think the best part for him was at the end when they passed out the pinewood derby kits. He wanted to open it up right then to get started. Luckily they are cutting the blocks of wood into the style they want this Wednesday. The next step is preparing him for the reality that he won't win everything. Happy Scouting!

Paige did WHAT?!?!

Tatsu

Yesterday Paige went to a birthday party. No ordinary birthday party, they went to Magic Mountain!! Which is so much fun, but Paige has never been and hasn't been on roller coasters quite like those. She texted my at one point and said they went on X2 first, and when they were on Tatsu her glasses fell off and she caught them. Nice reflexes Paige! She had a great time and liked all the rides they had time to go on. Now I have someone to go to Magic Mountain with. Grandpa, want to come? :)

X2

When I went with Marc and Aimee a few years ago we weren't sure if we wanted to do this ride. Then we found out it was closed, that made our decision for us. I didn't know until Paige told me that you are flipping around the same time you are on the track. CRAZY! Plus the first drop is straight down!

Our new Cub :)

Seth turned 8 and started cub scouts! He is loving it and even got his first belt award (biking) at his first pack meeting. He is so excited about wearing the uniform and making sure I put on all the patches he needs to look just like the other boys. I am learning as we go, but I know nothing about scouts!! Should be fun!

Seth's Baptism

We had a really nice day for Seth's baptism. We had family there and some friends. Matt did a great job baptizing and confirming him and the program was really nice with Paige singing When I am baptized. There were a few mixups, Tom and Ann thought it was in February, so they will come then and visit. And Dennis was down south for the week and drove up Saturday morning, but the GPS sent him in the wrong direction. After we found him we went to BJ's for lunch and played games the rest of the day. We are so proud of Seth for making the right decisions.

Happy Birthday Seth!

Today is Seth's 8th birthday! Wow, having kids that are now grown up is making me feel old. Seth is full of energy and wants to be a part of everything. He keeps us on our toes! The song playing, Mr. Roboto, is Seth's favorite to sing on Band Hero, another hysterical scene!

Have you gone to the bathroom yet? those of you who know Seth well, will have a great laugh!

Conversation between me and Seth last night while trying to get him into the shower:

Seth standing on the toilet seat in his boxer-brief underwear looking at himself. I walk up and he tells me tomorrow he is going to tan. What? "I am going to tan. Wear my pajama bottoms and sit out side."

He continues to look at himself and says, "I want one of those swimming suits that look like underwear." WHAT? "you know, the kind that are tight and look like underwear."

I said, "those are called speedos. the really tight ones?"

Seth: "Ya, the ones that are like underwear that go like this." he is making the motions of a speedo shape around his body. Mind you, he is still standing on the toilet seat.

"I want one for my birthday tomorrow. Maybe Kelly (his best friend) could get me one for my birthday!"

Me: "uh, no! I don't think you can even get one around here, and that fast, to give for your birthday!" giggle, giggle (Kelly is giving him a gift card to GameStop, which do you think he would like better :)

Later Paige asks him why he wants one. He said, "So I can show my muscles, I want my muscles showing. I have muscles."

Right before bed, 2 hours later, Seth is again standing on the toilet looking at himself in his underwear, FLEXING HIS MUSCLES!!!! hysterical, wish I had the video camera on. He also wants to show off his boney chest! He thinks it's cool :)

One more funny thing. A couple of days ago I am again trying to get Seth into the shower and he is undressing. He says, "I was a real person today, because I kept my clothes on all day and I am going to sleep with pajamas on!" We are lucky if he keeps all his clothes on in the car on the way home from school. He has been known to run from the car to the house in his underwear. That gives you a glimpse of what we see at our house. A lot of Seth in his underwear :)

Happy Birthday Seth!
