Disneyland!!!!!! (again)

The second part of our spring break was spent at Disneyland. We were lucky enough to have Matt's sister Janie and family come down to go to Sea World and Disneyland for their spring break. We decided to take Wed, Thurs, and Friday and go with them and stay over. Spring Break at Disneyland, does it get any better? You know when you call to get rooms at the Disneyland hotels a month in advance and they are full, it is going to be crowded. We were just looking forward to spending time with the cousins. Paige tried to talk Seth into going on new rides before we went down. She sat with him at the computer and wrote out some of the rides he might go on. She was determined to get a yes out of him. I had to tell her to give it a rest when he started yelling at her and she won't take no for an answer. Friday morning Seth came over to me before Matt and Paige were awake and told me that he would go on Alice in Wonderland and then went over to Paige and woke her up to tell her. She was excited and we talked about it the whole ride over. We got in line first thing and that was the deal breaker. He changed his mind, but we showed him how slow it moved and that he could close his eyes the whole time, and he went for it. He got through the ride happy and exclaimed that it was his favorite ride!? This is serious progress for Seth! We tried to convince Paige that Tower of Terror and California Screamin' were fun and that she would like them, no go.

The Flower Fields

Carlsbad, CA
Ranunculus
The Hills
Cheese
Sweet Pea Maze
Wow!
Us with Karyn, Korbyn, Colton, Jessica and Calvin Hall
We had a fun excursion last week to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. I can't remember where I heard about them, but I wanted to go see them during the kids spring break. It is near San Diego, so the drive is a little long for a day trip, so we called our friends, the Henderson's, and invited ourselves to come and play and spend the night to break up the drive. The kids had such a fun time, as did I, with them! thanks Henderson's!! The next morning we were off to the flower fields. BEAUTIFUL!!! It is 50 acres of blooming ranunculus flowers across the hill over looking the ocean! (March-May) I invited my friend Karyn to come along, and she made the trek. We were a little obsessed with getting pictures of our kids with the flowers in the background, but all in all had a great time. Next time I will plan to be there longer so that I don't feel so rushed at the end to get everything in before hitting the road to sit in traffic. A very fun outing for everyone!

Happy St. Patty's Day

Growing up we would go to McDonald's in March and get a Shamrock Shake!! Well, I remeber me and my dad getting them, I don't know about my sisters. So when I heard a commercial for them on the radio it sounded really good. I couldn't remember the last time I had one. So the next time we stopped to get drive through ice cream cones, I ordered myself a shamrock shake! Yum, well, not really. My memory thought it tasted better. Ice cream has sure come a long way, peppermint Christmas ice cream, girl scout cookie ice cream! Now those are good! But I did feel like a kid again going to the McD's in AF!!!

ps-I remember going to McD's maybe once a month, not twice a week. Well, we drive by it every day to get home, that's my excuse!

Play Ball!!

Seth's first baseball game was last Saturday and they did great. The boys were so cute in their uniforms. It was pretty warm out, and with all the baseball gear they got hot at the end and were ready for the game to be over. They play t-ball for the first few games and then switch to coach pitch. They either go to 3 outs or 5 runs, we only saw 2 outs in the whole game, so it was always 5 runs. Seth got bored and would play in the dirt when they weren't at bat, but hopefully he will have more fun as he learns to watch the ball (seems to be a problem when looking at dirt is so much fun).

Kindergartner of the Week

This past week Seth was the Kindergartner of the Week! He got to make a poster with some pictures telling about himself and have a life size replica of himself to paint. At the end of the week all the kids tell the teacher something nice about Seth and she writes it on the picture. Very cool. He also got to do other special things like being line leader all week. He is such a good kid and a lot of the kids said he was nice and a good friend, along with playing spider at recess with them. He has a great long term sub (she's been there for 6 of the 7 months) who really makes the kids feel special. I was in the class to watch the comments made and I even got to add one. I said that Seth is nice to everyone and gives me lots of hugs and kisses. Great job Seth!!!

Reptile Show

Where is the frog going mom?
This is heavy!
There is one on my head!

Seth's class had a reptile guy come and show some interesting animals. I stayed around to get some pictures for the class yearbook page. I didn't know I would become part of the show. Luckily it was only bearded lizards instead of the tarantula he had at the beginning :( The kids loved the reptiles and had fun participating. Seth's teacher does not like snakes, but the guy handed her one to hold and she grudgingly (?) did. She almost inspired me to get over the spider phobia and touch the tarantula! Yeah, that feeling passed quickly!! It seems like my sisters and I have hit the winter blues and paused our posts. They have had sick families and been sick themselves, what's my excuse? Here's to updating my blog quicker!
